A Step Closer Foundation – Trash Bags To Travel Bags Project
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]This foundation focuses on the needs of children going into and already in foster care in the state of Maryland. The project funded by MCBF was designed to help eradicate emotional and psychological harmful effects caused when foster care children have to transport their belongings in trash bags as they move from home to home. This project gives them actual suitcases, backpacks, and other forms of travel bags filled with clothes, essentials, toys and other goodies to use as they enter foster care or travel throughout the foster care system. With our assistance, they distributed approximately 75 travel bags in this grant cycle.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1048″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
Other projects of the Foundation include an annual holiday party for foster children; scholarships for those children for voice, art, sports and driving lessons. It also provides workshops and conferences for youth on life skills and career options. Each year they sponsor a She Matters and a He Matters conference for teen girls and boys.
