Monumental History

“Color at the Bar”

A long line of dedicated African-American attorneys’ efforts changed not only Maryland but the nation as well. This program is a unique combination of documentation and oral history featuring the voices of those lawyers and judges whose lives and work reflect the legacy of their struggle for freedom and equal justice under the law.

This video, aired on Maryland Public Television in 2009, gives a comprehensive view of the history and legacy of African American attorneys in Baltimore, and their contribution to local and national civil rights for all Americans.
